At the start of semester two my two lecturers Shaz and Russel said 'Being able to imagine what the future holds is one of the most important tools we can have as designers.' With that in mind we got straight into our first assignment. This assignment I looked to identify challenges/problems in the household, particularly in the kitchen. I brainstormed and researched the problems I had in my own kitchen, conducted my own research, learnt how to pitch my idea all while getting inspired and recieving valuable feedback by my lecturers and class mates.

After 6 weeks I refined my idea down to a project I called 'feed our friends'

Problem/Challenge: It goes without saying, life is pretty busy! whether its work to attend to, or mulitple schedules, household jobs do fall through the cracks. One thing all dog owners can relate to is that awful feeling at work of did I feed the dog this morning? Or did both me and my partner feed the dog? did the dog get two lots of food?

Pet food is a quarter of our meat wastage. what can we do to solve this problem and prevent the dog being fed twice as well as making life simpler for the everyday busy person?

Solution: feed our friends! a way to communicate with your household where people come and go at different times. the visual slider has both am/pm with it labelled for the different days of the week. simply slide the button over to the green colour to indicate the task of feeding the dog has been complete. it can mount to any surface and only a little bigger then a light switch. we recommend the fridge or places with high traffic flow.

Smart: Although it gets better! family members not only have the luxury of looking at the tracker physically but when away from the house also. the tracker is connected to an app the whole family can connect to. the tracker marks off when fed when button is slid across on real life tracker (can also be marked done on app). push notifications can be sent through the messages function so reminders can be sent out to a particular family member or all. in setting can set a reminder to fed dog at certain time daily
